Job Description
The Transportation Specialist provides administrative and operational support for university transportation services, with a primary focus on private charter bus coordination and campus transit system oversight. This role involves coordinating charter requests, managing vendor relationships, monitoring transit performance, assisting with financial processes such as billing and pricing, and collaborating on technology-driven service enhancements. The specialist will report to the department Manager and contribute to strategies that ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective mobility solutions.
Responsibilities
Charter Bus Coordination
- Manage all campus charter bus requests through an online reservation system.
- Serve as the liaison between internal departments and university-approved charter bus vendors.
- Match customer needs to appropriate service options while ensuring cost-efficiency.
- Maintain accurate financial records and reports to support billing and vendor payments in compliance with university policies.
Campus Transit System Support
- Assist the department Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the campus transit system (The T Bus), operated by Transdev.
- Investigate and help resolve service issues, complaints, or special transportation requests.
- Monitor service performance and ensure adherence to contractual terms.
Technology & Operational Efficiency
- Coordinate with IT and technical teams to implement transit-related technology solutions that improve rider experience and operational efficiency.
- Analyze data and detailed reports to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: At least five (5) years of relevant experience in passenger transportation, customer service, administrative support, or a combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication.
- Proficiency in managing logistics and transportation coordination.
- Financial accuracy in billing, invoicing, and reporting.
- Ability to balance multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Vocational or technical training, or an Associate's degree.
Experience: Previous work in a university or corporate environment coordinating across multiple departments.
Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with transportation technologies, IT systems, or scheduling platforms.
- Ability to troubleshoot operational issues and recommend effective solutions.

Compensation and Benefits
- UT market range: MR06
- Anticipated hiring range: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
